Treasure Trivia

A great game for a large party, where everyone has equal chance of winning. Some preparation needed, but it's worth it.

How To Play

Step 1.
BEFORE THE PARTY: Hide your treasure somewhere in the party room, known only to you. It needn't be the actual prize, just something that looks valuable. Also, randomly stick 20 sealed envelopes numbered 1 to 20 under about 20 of the party chairs, containing an instruction of where to move. For example: Jump 3 jumps to your right, walk 3 steps towards your home town, walk backwards 5 steps towards someone you really like, etc. etc. Make these as funny as possible - use your imagination!
Step 2.
At game time, ask everyone to check under their seats. Those who have an envelope are in the game and should assemble in the centre of the room with their sealed envelope.
Step 3.
The participants should now be told that there is treasure hidden in the room, and you will give them three instructions to move, after which the person standing closest to the treasure is the winner. The first and third instructions are given to everyone. The second one is inside their own envelope.
Step 4.
The first instruction from you should be along the lines of "Take 5 steps towards France", or something similar that is likely to make everyone go in different directions. This should be amusing!
Second, each participant opens their own envelope (starting with number 1) and follows their individual instructions.
Third - Tell everyone to walk 3 steps in the direction of their choice.
The winner is the person now standing nearest to the buried treasure.
