Pinata (Pinyata)

Stand back as each player tries to crack open the Pinata dummy and release the hidden treasures.

How To Play

Step 1.
A Pinata is a hollow model containing lots of (non-fragile) goodies or sweets. They can be bought or you can make one at home if you have craft skills. It needs to be reasonably sturdy. Hang it on a rope from a tree or frame.
Step 2.
Starting with the party celebrant, kids are blindfolded in turn and handed a rounders or cricket bat. TELL THEM TO WAIT UNTIL TOLD IT IS SAFE TO START. They are moved close to the Pinata and then have 3 swings to try to hit and break it.
Step 3.
Repeat Step 2 until goodies begin to fall from the Pinata. Any that fall are the prize of the current hitter. WARN THE KIDS NOT TO RUN TO PICK UP GOODIES, JUST IN CASE THE HITTER DECIDES TO HAVE ANOTHER SWING!
Hitters claim any goodies that fall out during their turn. If the whole lot falls then its a free for all, but make sure you stop the hitter swinging first!
