Dots & Boxes
(Also known as: Boxes)
Set out a square framework of dots on a page. Each player then takes turn to join two dots with a line, writing their initials inside any box they complete.
How To Play
Step 1.
Draw a rough 10 by 10 grid of dots about 1cm apart.
Step 2.
Players take turns to draw a line linking any 2 dots. If, in doing so, you complete the fourth side of a box, you claim it by initialling it.
Step 3.
At some point it becomes difficult to avoid drawing the 3rd side of a box, potentially surrendering points to the next player. (If you have to then try to do so discreetly!!). Can you see the mistake on this game?
Step 4.
You opponent did and has claimed two boxes. When you complete a box you get to go again, potentially closing a series of boxes.

The winner is the player who ends up initialling the highest number of boxes.

Vary the size of the dot grid according to how much time is available.
